Duncan Coral (Duncanopsammia axifuga) — WYSIWYG
The Duncan Coral is one of the most beloved and beginner-friendly LPS corals in the reef hobby. Known for its large, fleshy polyps that extend dramatically during the day and retract at night, Duncans bring incredible movement and life to any aquarium.
Duncans are a colony-forming coral that grows by budding new polyps from the base, making them a rewarding long-term addition to any reef. They're highly tolerant of a range of water conditions and are one of the few LPS corals that actively benefit from regular target feeding, responding with rapid growth and vibrant coloration.
Care Requirements
- Lighting: Low to moderate (50–150 PAR)
- Flow: Low to moderate, gentle indirect flow
- Placement: Mid to lower rockwork
- Feeding: Actively benefits from target feeding with mysis or reef roids
